Spring I 2024 Faculty Guidelines

We have converted the Faculty Guidelines to a Google Document. This new format includes a navigable Table of Contents with links to each section, updated information about recent changes to college policies and procedures, the new CUNY placement information, as well as the usual information found in the faculty guidelines memo.

Faculty received this via email during the week of 2/28/24. You can also access it here:

Attendance

The Department of English voted to implement a new attendance policy in January of 2024. The policy language for your syllabus is here. And here are some ideas about ways to implement the policy in your class, including 3 sample syllabi statements.

Questions about Placement?

Key points on student placement into ENA 101 and ENG 101.

Accessibility and Universal Design

In winter of 2024, the WPAs offered 3 workshops on accessibility and universal design. You can see the agendas, slides, and resource from these workshops here.

Optional Syllabus Templates

Rachel Boccio and Tara Coleman created syllabus templates for ENG 101 and ENG 102 that implement accessibility and UDL considerations. These are optional but available if you’d like to use them. You’ll find these files located directly below the Intro To Sheets on each page:

Updated Intro To Sheets

The “Introduction To” sheets have been updated for the Spring I 2024 semester. You’ll find the updated sheets on the resource page for each course. They are also on the Department of English SharePoint site. Intro To sheets are the 5th item on the page and are listed as a downloadable file
